Shri Raj Kamal has served in various positions in his career spanning more than 30 years.

He assumed charge as India’s Ambassador to the State of Eritrea on January 17, 2026.

Prior to that, he has worked as Consul (Counsellor) at the Consulate General of India, Milan (2023-225), and as Director in East and Southern Africa Division of the Ministry of External Affairs (2020-2023).

His other diplomatic assignments were at the Indian Missions in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, Afghanistan, UAE, South Korea, Trinidad & Tobago and Argentina.  He has also served earlier in the CPV Division of the Ministry of External Affairs.

Shri Raj Kamal speaks Hindi, English, Punjabi and Spanish.
